iNaturalist: Website or App ❤
iNaturalist (https://www.inaturalist.org/) is an app and website that provides a place to record and organize nature finds, meet other nature enthusiasts, and learn about the natural world. It is also a joint initiative of the California Academy of Sciences and the National Geographic Society.
I started using it in the pandemic, but I don't remember how I knew of its existence haha. I have uploaded some logs, but earlier this year I used it more for an internship II job on the Frutillar property. I use the website every time I go hiking or just see an interesting species around town.
I like it because every observation can contribute to the biodiversity of science, from the rarest butterfly to the most common backyard weed. It is also very easy to use, you just need a mobile or tablet, download the app, create an account and then go out and photograph any species that intrigues you to find out its name, origin, taxonomy, etc.
I recommend it to any nature lover, among others, hikers, hunters, ornithologists, beachcombers, mushroom hunters, park rangers, ecologists and fishermen.
It's a good app, I always use it when we go out in the field
